Stagleap Provincial Park

Stagleap Provincial Park

This park is located 34 km west of Creston at the summit of the highest all-weather highway pass in BC.

Stagleap Provincial Park is one of the most accessible backcountry skiing destinations in the Creston area and has consistently excellent snow conditions (an average of 2.5 metres of settled snow on the ground at the level of the pass). This has made it a major ski and snowshoe destination. There are also cross country opportunities in the park, but no track set. Users are responsible for their snow stability evaluation, route finding, self rescue and first aid.

A shelter for day use is located on the west side of the developed area of the park. A wood burning airtight stove is provided, but users have to provide their own firewood. The cabin is popular with snow enthusiasts through the winter months.

The park plays a key role in protecting habitat for internationally endangered mountain caribou. In an effort to support mountain caribou recovery projects, domestic animals including dogs are prohibited during the winter months from November 1 until April 30.
