Nelson Winter Snow Goers
Heli and Cat Skiing
The really untamed and unmarked slopes are all around Nelson, and various heli-skiing or cat-skiing operators can take you there. Be the first to make tracks in powder that is metres deep – you feel like the first to draw breath up there! (Snowfall averages up to 42 feet per season.) Ski or board on lawless slopes that command a view rivalling any of the world’s better-known mountain ranges. Or take your time wending your way all the long way down gently rolling, tree lined glades. The variety of the terrain around here will amaze you. High Terrain Helicopters is one of these operators. For a listing of tour operators, you can check with the Chamber of Commerce in Nelson, 250-352-3433 or visit www.discovernelson.com
